Platos Platónicos.

Project Name: Platos Platónicos (Platonic plates)

Client: Ana illueca Ceramics

Work conceptual description:

Inspired by Plato’s philosophy, Platos Platónicos explores the pursuit of beauty and love beyond the physical, reflecting on how we idealize love, people, and even other lives. This project delves into the emotional spectrum of love—from infatuation to longing—through narrative and form, while also marking my personal journey of self-discovery and healing through clay. Each piece is both a ceramic object and a storytelling vessel, blending ancient philosophical ideas with contemporary artistic expression.
Platos Platónicos marks the beginning of my ceramic journey—a turning point in my life that helped me heal from a painful separation. This project reflects on idealized or impossible love, envy, and constant comparison, exploring themes from first love to mature love, and the idealization of the other in heartbreak. It consists of six ceramic pieces, each accompanied by a short film, forming a conceptual and formal investigation into identity, color, and ancestral symbols.

Work technical description:

Each plate explores distinct forms and colors that have become part of my visual identity, including the use of copper green and symbolic references to my heritage. This project represents my first exploration of ceramic techniques, experimenting with shape, color, and texture to express complex emotional narratives.

Sustainability:

The project was crafted using locally sourced materials, including clay from nearby suppliers, and reflects my commitment to sustainable, small-scale production.
