Intimacy Container Side Table.

Project Name: Side Table

Client: Ana illueca Ceramics

Year: 2024

Work conceptual description:

Intimacy Container — Side Table is a wheel-thrown stoneware side table, made with the kind of technical discipline that only comes from experience: stability, controlled thickness, and balance held in an open, containing form.

The work approaches intimacy through a clear proposition: it offers cavities for what we rarely display, yet live with every day. The objects that quietly reveal us, without theatrics. Pyjamas when the piece sits by the bed. A half-read book. A lighter. Tobacco. A wash bag. The domestic as an unedited self-portrait.

It operates as furniture, and as refuge. A place where the real can remain present without being put on show. Where the everyday can be held, and gently withdrawn from view, without being erased.

Work technical description:

Material: stoneware.
Finish: matte glaze developed through my own research, with a soft transition towards copper green.
Approx. dimensions: 45 cm (H) × 38 cm (W).
Unique piece or limited production, subject to availability.

The glaze, my own creation, seeks to recreate the sensation of a caress. Touch is very important in this work; its humanity comes not only from its form, but also from its tactile nature.

The pieces are fired at up to 1280º.
